Every guide on Divorce Lawyers in Chennai is researched from primary legal sources and checked before it is published. This page explains how we write, check and update our content, so you know what you can rely on.

Who we are

Divorce Lawyers in Chennai is a directory of advocates who handle divorce and family cases in Chennai. Our appointment desk on 9843434510 is open 24/7 and the first consultation is free. Our guides explain the law in plain language so you can understand your options before you speak to an advocate.

How we research our guides

  • Primary sources first: the bare text of the Acts (such as the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, the Special Marriage Act, 1954 and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005), and judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts.
  • Official information: government and court websites such as India Code, the Supreme Court, eCourts, the National and Tamil Nadu Legal Services Authorities and Passport Seva.
  • Current law: since 1 July 2024, criminal law is governed by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. We cite the new section and give the old IPC or CrPC number in brackets, because many people still search for it.
  • Chennai context: where it matters, we explain how things work in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, for example which court may hear a case from a particular area.

How we check facts

Before a guide is published, every specific legal claim in it is checked against a source: section numbers, case names and years, what a court actually decided, time limits and official procedures. If a claim cannot be verified, we remove it or reword it as a general statement. We do not publish invented statistics, guaranteed outcomes or fee figures presented as fixed.

Independence

  • We only name advocates who are listed on this site, and we describe them using the experience and practice areas they have given us.
  • We do not link to other law firms or lawyer directories. External links go only to official sources.
  • No guide promises a result. Every case depends on its own facts.

Updates and corrections

Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed at the end. We update guides when the law changes or when we find an error. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, please tell us through our contact page and we will check it.

Not legal advice

Our guides are general information, not legal advice. For advice on your situation, speak to an advocate. Please also read our disclaimer and privacy policy.
